19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.
Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
This represents the player's initial championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to force a third set.
Moutet saved four early chances in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
